DETROIT – Cobo Center will be alive with more than 1,500 dogs at the Detroit Dog Show starting Saturday.
There are dogs on skate boards, others that play soccer, others that have a keen fashion sense, and those are just the dogs from Rock and Roll Canines, an entertainment group performing for the second year in a row.
"So much is going on here." Jill Mondrush of Rock 'n Roll Canines said. "There's us, there's terrier racing, there's duck hearding. There are all kinds of fun events at the Detroit Dog Show."
The regular show dogs will show up Saturday morning. Friday was all about setting up for the 110th and 111th Detroit Dog Show this weekend.

"We probably will have 160 different breeds here," Erik Bergishagen, the president of the Detroit Kennel Club, said.
Bergishagen said the show is unique because it's one of the few bench shows left in the country, meaning the dogs must be present the entire day, so spectators can see them up close and personal.
"You could see different kinds of dogs, talk to their breeders about what the dogs are like," he said.
There's, of course, the traditional shows, which will be judged, but Bergishagen said if you think it's going to be like the movie 'Best in show,' you're barking up the wrong tree.
"[That movie] is a fun thing, it's not really what dog shows are like," he said. "So come and see it for your self."
The Detroit Dog Show is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday.
Adult tickets are $15 and kids tickets are $8.
