GROSSE POINTE PARK, Mich. – A 35-year-old woman was found dead early Thursday morning in a Grosse Pointe Park home.
Police said a 911 call came in just after midnight and officers found the victim, 35-year-old Sabrina Gianino, in a home in the 1300 block of Wayburn Street.
Police reportedly got the call from Gianino's boyfriend. He was questioned by police and released.
Bob Toole is a neighbor who said he saw Gianino working in her backyard garden Wednesday evening. Hours later, he noticed a back door open, behind a storm door.
"I just found it odd that one, she wasn't sitting on the porch in the nice weather and two, that even after dark that door remained open," Toole said.
Police are not discussing any possibility of forced entry. Sources say markings were found around Gianino's neck. An autopsy is scheduled for Friday morning.
Sabrina Gianino worked nearby as a receptionist at the Platz Animal Hospital, where she was described as witty and respectful.
Bonnie Leone is a friend of the Gianino family.
"It's kind of a nightmare, especially like that living in Grosse Pointe and not knowing what could have happened to her," Leone said.
Robin Walls is a neighbor who said the death is chilling.
"It's scary and frightening, so close to home," Walls said.
An autopsy to determine the cause of Sabrina Gianino's death is scheduled for Friday.
