DETROIT – Wayne County will spend $30 million on road projects in 21 communities this construction season.
Wayne County Executive Warren C. Evans said Thursday that the county had hired 50 seasonal employees and bought 62 pieces of new road maintenance equipment.
“Wayne County is ready for road construction season,” Evans said. “We’ve made smart investments with our limited resources by purchasing new equipment and hiring a qualified and motivated seasonal workforce."
Wayne County officials said more than 36,000 tons of asphalt will be used this season to perform resurfacing repairs on primary and local roads in the country. Road crews will also use more than 6,600 tons of Cold Patching material for potholes.
Evans' administration will host a series of summits with local leaders to identify solutions to reform the local municipal funding system.
