Officials search for shooter who killed 26-year-old woman in northwest Detroit

Ranita Cannon fatally shot while driving in Detroit

DETROIT – Police are searching for the person who fatally shot a 26-year-old woman who was driving on the northwest side of Detroit.

Ranita Cannon was driving on eastbound James Couzens near W. 8 Mile Road on Sept. 25, 2016, when a dark-colored SUV drove up next to her, officials said.

A person inside the SUV fired multiple shots into Cannon's vehicle. Cannon and her passenger were struck several times. Cannon was pronounced dead as a result of the gunshot wounds.

Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $2,500 for information that leads to an arrest in Cannon's murder.
