Novi police investigate 'unattended death'

NOVI, Mich. – Police launched a search Friday night in the area of Grand River Avenue and Haggerty Road.

Nearby business owners said they were told to carry on as usual, and there was no threat to the public. Novi police Chief David Malloy said Saturday morning that an "unattended death" was being investigated, and the death didn't seem to involve criminal activity.

Police from Novi and officials from the fire department were involved. Crime tape and lights could be seen from the road.

The large police presence was mostly concentrated in a wooded and grassy area that backs up to a nearby creek.
