DETROIT - A 25-year-old woman is charged with second degree murder in connection to the deadly shooting of her boyfriend early Saturday morning at a gas station in Detroit.

The Wayne County Prosecutor's Office said Starr K. Holmes shot Pap Robinson Jenkins, 31, about 2:45 a.m. at the Marathon gas station in the 12000 block of Grand River Avenue. The two had an argument when Jenkins refused to return personal items belonging to Holmes, the prosecutor's office said, which led to Jenkins' deadly shooting.

Detroit police said Holmes fired at Jenkins because, she said, he was trying to run her over with his car. She said she shot him in self-defense.

Holmes was arrested. Police confiscated the weapon.

Jenkins died at Grace Hospital.

Holmes also faces a felony firearm charge. She is scheduled to be arraigned Monday afternoon.
