Detroit Waza Flo have sights set on win over Wave on Saturday
MELVINDALE, Mich. – The Detroit Waza Flo professional indoor Major Arena Soccer League (MASL) will host the Milwaukee Wave this Saturday night at 6pm at the Melvindale Civic Arena.
After facing the giant, first place undefeated team Baltimore Blast (12-0) last week and being successful in scoring the most goals scored on the Blast yet this season, they found their tough battle of 9-6 was not enough to win. Owner/Coach/Player Dominica Scicluna had an extra attacker on the field instead of a goalie throughout the entire game, which most teams only do in the last few minutes or during penalties, this unique format proved to help Detroit to keep Baltimore on their toes throughout the game and showed that opponents never know what they might be up against with Waza Flo.
This is the second half of the MASL season and every game counts towards trying to earn a playoff berth. Detroit (3-10) is currently sitting in fourth place in the Eastern Division and two games behind Rochester Lancers. They cannot afford any more losses, especially at home where they are the most lethal against opponents. The Milwaukee Wave (8-6) are just one loss behind Chicago to get into the second place slot behind Missouri and will also be coming in hoping to take their Wave and swell over Detroit.
Wave will have with them former Michigan Buck's PDL player Tony Walls along with newly acquired (in trade with St. Louis) and former Detroit Waza Flo player, Stefan St Louis, who also trains with Detroit on the off season. Detroit will be happy to welcome them back and remind them what it's like to be on the other side of the Flo attack.
All tickets tomorrow night will be at the kid price of $8 instead of adults at $12 to highlight their attitude and embody the spirit for the matchup, including having the halftime entertainment, by Detroit's "Everyone's A Kid Again."
Waza Flo had to play without Head Coach Costea Decu last weekend due to a red card in a previous game, but will have him back along with Scicluna, Captain Miki Djerisilo, and other veterans, that despite their numeric age, they clearly perform as kids themselves on the field when out-dicing others half their age and entertaining the fans at the same time.
Game Time is Saturday at 6:05pm v Milwaukee Wave at the Melvindale Civic Arena (4300 S Dearborn St, Melvindale, MI 48122).
Tickets prices are Adult $12 and Children ages 3-12 years $8 can be purchased online.
