DETROIT – The Detroit Red Wings will begin the 2016 preseason Tuesday night when they host the Stanley Cup champion Pittsburgh Penguins at Joe Louis Arena.

There will be a few newcomers in coach Jeff Blashill's lineup after the Red Wings picked up forwards Frans Nielsen , Thomas Vanek and Steve Ott in free agency. Meanwhile, there will be a lot familiar faces back on the blueline for Detroit.

Detroit finished this past season 3rd place in the Atlantic Division, then bowed out in the first round of the playoffs against the Tampa Bay Lightning, 4 games to 1. It was the second-straight season in which Tampa knocked out the Red Wings in the first round.
