Detroit Red Wings fans are on the outside looking in for the first time in 26 years.
Twitter user @InTheThird902 has attempted to capture this unfamiliar feeling for the organization and fans:
Land of Confusion, In Memory of Mike Ilitch 1929 - 2017 pic.twitter.com/bwibv61cbm— InTheThird (@InTheThird902) April 15, 2017
That's a nice nod to late team owner Mike Ilitch who died Feb. 10 at age 87. Ilitch and his family brought the team out of the "Dead Wings" era and turned it into a "Hockeytown" winning machine.
To cap off the comic, the confused Red Wings fan is greeted by a Colorado Avalanche fan. Both teams used to be the envy of the league just 20 years ago when they annually competed for the Stanley Cup. How the mighty have fallen.
There's always next year.
I have been informed I missed the Isles, they are in purgatory, yeah, that's it. *Shifty eyes*— InTheThird (@InTheThird902) April 15, 2017
