DETROIT – The Detroit Tigers have selected Ron Gardenhire as their next manager.
Gardenhire worked as a bench coach for the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2017.
Gardenhire managed the Minnesota Twins from 2002-2014, going 1,068-1,039. His teams went 6-21 in the postseason.
The Tigers announced last month that Brad Ausmus would not return to the team after the season.
