Tony “SuperBad” Harrison hosts media workout ahead of hometown fight at Fox Theatre

Local prospects join Harrison on the Detroit fight card

DETROIT, MI – Former world champion Tony “Super Bad” Harrison hosted a media workout on Dec. 3 ahead of his Dec. 20 hometown bout at Detroit’s historic Fox Theatre, joined by a lineup of rising Michigan talent.

The rising prospects slated for this card include light heavyweight Kahmel Makled of Macomb, featherweight Cameran Pankey of Pontiac, middleweight Jaquan McElroy of Flint and middleweight Husam Al-Mashhadi of Dearborn.

Harrison (30-4-1, 21 KOs), the charismatic and popular former world champion continues his return to the top, taking on Argentina’s Brian Damian Chaves (15-7, 6 KOs) in a ten-round middleweight showdown.

In July 2025 Harrison returned to the ring after two years out of competition and won a decisive unanimous decision against Edward Diaz in front of a sold out Little Caesars Arena crowd.

35-year-old Harrison says part of his motivation for returning to the ring was his love for boxing.

“Those two years off did me justice,” said Harrison. “I had a ball. And not only for the sport of boxing, I had a ball doing it in Detroit. Everything felt so right. It felt so right to be back in the ring and to do it in Detroit in front of 18, 19-thousand people that love me, I wouldn’t have it no other way.”

Harrison won the world title in 2018 at 154lbs but now fights at 160 lbs which allows him to focus on strategy.

“I’m putting on a show Dec. 20,” said Harrison. “I’m feeling good. I’m having fun. I’m used to training to lose weight, but now I’m training to remain a tactician. I’ve been locked in at camp physically and mentally. It’s been Tony vs. Tony. I’m also excited for all my Detroit guys on the card. We got the best card to touch Detroit this year. Get you some good tickets because trust me—you want to see this up close and personal.”

Harrison’s promoter, Dmitriy Salita, Head of Salita Promotions has major fights in store for Harrison as he continues his return to the top of the division.

“Maybe one last fight before a world title fight or something big for Tony Harrison,” said Salita. “I really believe Tony’s on the cusp of something really big and this one is a must win.”

The local talent on the card will have the opportunity to fight at the historic Fox Theatre which has only hosted two professional fights in its history.

An emerging knockout artist among the rising talent is Macomb’s Makled(4-0, 3KOs). Makled is making the step up from four-round fights to six-rounds.

24-year-old Makled has three knockouts through his first four fights and is aiming to end the night early in his next bout.

“That’s what people come to see,” said Makled on looking for a knockout. “They don’t come to watch me play patty cake with people. People want to see knockouts and that’s what I’m trying to give people.”

Headlining the card, Olivia Curry (7-2-2, 2 KOs) and Kaye Scott (4-1-1) look to settle unfinished business in a highly anticipated ten-round rematch for the WBC and WBA Unified Middleweight World Championship.

Undefeated heavyweight Pryce Taylor (9-0, 6 KOs) will face Michael Coffie (13-5, 10 KOs) in an eight-round contest.
