The well wishes for Andrew are such a wonderful tribute to him and his work in our community. We’re as sad to see him leave as you are. We tried multiple times to convince him to stay in various roles, but ultimately it was his decision to try something new. We absolutely respect that decision and celebrate him today. He will always have a place at Local4 should he ever decide he’d like to come home.
Keep these wonderful messages coming. He deserves every one of them.
After 20 years, WDIV meteorologist Andrew Humphrey had his last newscast Tuesday night.
Andrew has decided to leave the station after 20 years on the air to explore new opportunities.
“During the past 20 years, Andrew has happily greeted viewers with a big smile and helped them plan their weekends, and he seamlessly slid into any day-part to fill in and deliver the forecast. We’ve long heard from viewers about Andrew’s warmth, his great school visits with kids and his community involvement,” said WDIV News Director Kim Voet.
Humphrey is known as the “station scientist” and is the first and only broadcast meteorologist on the planet with a degree from MIT.
