DETROIT – Women of Tomorrow announced that Metro Detroit Women of Tomorrow Scholarship Program will have over $300,000 in scholarships available for its first graduating class of Women of Tomorrow mentees.
They made the announcement yesterday at Women of Tomorrow Scholarship & College Application Overview that was held at Comerica Park Tigers Club.
Yesterday's luncheon was underwritten by the Detroit Tigers and over 60 mentees from 8 Metro Detroit public high schools joined their mentors and school coordinators to learn about scholarship opportunities available to them through the Women of Tomorrow program. Women of Tomorrow Scholarship Partners include: Central Michigan University, Northwood University, Rochester College, and Michigan State University. Representatives from the colleges were all on hand to announce their specific scholarship opportunities to the girls.
Advisory Board Members, Laurie Cunnington, Florine Mark and Lori Blaker have been integral in developing scholarship partnerships and raising scholarship funds for Women of Tomorrow Metro Detroit graduates. "I believe education is the key to change," said Laurie Cunnington. "Thanks to the generosity of organizations like Northwood University, Central Michigan and Rochester College many of these young women will get the support they need to fulfill their goals and dreams of success.
Florine Mark, who believes wholeheartedly in supporting tomorrow's leaders, secured the first scholarship partnership with Central Michigan University.
When asked why it was so important to support Women of Tomorrow's mission she replied, "These young women have the intelligence, talent and passion needed to achieve great things; and we are so grateful that some of Michigan's finest educational institutions have not only recognized their potential, but they have stepped forward to help the girls on their paths to success."

About Women of Tomorrow Mentor & Scholarship Program
Women of Tomorrow, founded in 1997 in South Florida, expanded into Metro Detroit in 2011, thanks in part to a generous grant from the John S. & James L. Knight Foundation. The program now mentors approximately 800 at-risk girls in 35 public high schools across Metro Detroit through its unique program which pairs small groups of girls with highly accomplished professional women.
