Oakland County woman accused of sexually assaulting 2 boys while working at juvenile jail

Worker charged with second-degree criminal sexual conduct

Svetlana Kuryanova (Wayne County Prosecutor's Office)

HAMTRAMCK, Mich. – An Oakland County woman is accused of sexually assaulting two teenage boys while working at a Wayne County juvenile jail.

Officials said Svetlana Kuryanova, 33, of Farmington Hills, sexually assaulted two boys -- ages 16 and 17 -- around 7 p.m. April 8, 2024, at the Juvenile Detention Facility on Hamtramck Drive in Hamtramck.

Kuryanova was working as a juvenile detention specialist at the time, officials said.

She is charged with two counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct -- county prisoner. That charge carries a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison.

“The allegations in this case are among the most disturbing ones that I have seen,” Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy said. “It is hard to wrap my brain around the fact that this occurred in the Juvenile Detention Facility, and charged defendant is allegedly responsible for this illegal behavior.”

Kuryanova was arraigned Monday morning, May 6, at 31st District Court in Hamtramck. She is being held on $75,000 bond, cash/surety.

A probable cause conference is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. May 16.
