Facebook users trying to reach their favorite social media site may be encountering an error message on this Monday afternoon. 

• UPDATE: Facebook appears to be back online for users who encountered the outage Monday. 

The site appears to be down for many users. It is displaying the following message: 

"Sorry, something went wrong. We're working on it and we'll get it fixed as soon as we can."

The website DownDetector is showing a 50 percent total blackout report from Facebook users.
