The Democratic and Republican candidates for Michigan governor are reportedly set to debate in Grand Rapids in mid-October.

Both the Democratic and Republican candidates for Michigan governor have expressed interest in debating ahead of November’s high-profile gubernatorial election, but it appears they haven’t yet agreed on a date.

Thursday (May 26), five republican candidates were officially thrown off the ballot by the state board of canvassers. Those candidates include former Detroit Police Chief James Craig, Perry Johnson, Donna Brandenburg, Michael Markey, and Mike Brown.

The Michigan Board of State Canvassers is set to meet Thursday to determine who will appear on the ballot for the 2022 gubernatorial primary election in August after five GOP candidates reportedly failed to submit enough nominating signatures.

Two of the leading candidates for the GOP nomination for Michigan governor will ask the courts to intervene after they were found ineligible for the August primary.
