New downtown Ann Arbor bookstore to focus on Beat Generation
ANN ARBOR, MI -- First editions of Jack Kerouac books, original artwork by Malcolm McNeill and other items associated with the Beat Generation will soon grace the shelves of a downtown Ann Arbor bookstore. Third Mind Books, 118 E. Washington St., is set to open on June 4, just one day after the anniversary of the birthday of Allen Ginsberg, a prolific Beat Generation poet. The store is the first brick-and-mortar location of Third Mind Books, which was launched online in 2010 by Arthur Nusbaum.

Ferlinghetti, a San Francisco institution, died Monday at his home, his son Lorenzo Ferlinghetti said. He was named San Francisco’s first poet laureate, in 1998, and City Lights was granted landmark status three years later.
