Fans discuss Bo Schembechler’s complicated legacy at annual grave walk for Michigan-Ohio State week
Also known as the Michigan “Superfan,” he goes to the graves of past Michigan football icons in a solemn show of respect. The annual “grave walk” has taken on new meaning, however. The first years of the grave walk did not even involve Schembechler since it started before he died in 2006. “Whatever one thinks of Bo Schembechler, it doesn’t matter,” Goldman said in June. With all this in mind: what is the point of the grave walk moving forward?mlive.com

On Wednesday, Jon Vaughn, another former Michigan football player who said he was abused by Anderson, but declined to tell Schembechler about it, called on Michigan to allow the state attorney general Dana Nessel to investigate the claims.mlive.com
Wife, son: ‘Bo had a clear and compelling sense of right and wrong’
Family members of the late Bo Schembechler came to his defense this week, issuing a clear rebuke of allegations that the legendary Michigan football coach was made aware of sexual abuse allegations involving Dr. Robert Anderson. “To the contrary, in our steadfast opinion, Bo was not aware of such conduct and assumed that any procedures were medically appropriate. “If Bo had known of inappropriate conduct, we are certain that he would have stopped it immediately, reported it, and had Dr. Anderson removed from the University,” the letter continues. “Our experiences tell us that the Bo Schembechler that we knew would never have tolerated any abuse or mistreatment of his players, his staff, or any other individual,” the letter reads. Yearly physicals by family doctors, or athletic physicals by a University doctor were the same physicals as performed by the United States military.mlive.com

Dog reunited with family after fleeing from highway crash the day before
FARMINGTON HILLS, MI -- A South Lyon family is breathing a sigh of relief after being reunited with their dog after he ran away following a car crash. The missing 9-month-old German Shepherd named Bo was found on a porch outside of a home in Farmington Hills by a resident who thought it might be the missing dog she’d heard about. According to a post on the City of Farmington Hills Facebook page, a homeowner called police Thursday when she thought she’d spotted the dog outside her house. Harbaugh then reached out to Bo’s owners, who had been treated and released from the hospital following the crash. The owners traveled to the house, where they were reunited with Bo, who eventually came off the porch.mlive.com
Pets are back: Biden's 2 dogs settle in at White House
The dogs moved into the White House on Sunday, following Biden's inauguration last week. Biden's predecessor, Donald Trump, a self-described germaphobe, does not own any pets and had none with him at the White House. “Pets have played an important role in the White House throughout the decades, not only by providing companionship to the presidents and their families, but also by humanizing and softening their political images,” said Jennifer Pickens, author of a book about pets at the White House. Among the stranger White House pets was Calvin Coolidge and first lady Grace Coolidge’s raccoon Rebecca. But instead she got an embroidered collar with the title “White House Raccoon” and entertained children at the White House Easter Egg Roll.
Britain's big banks see 'trust' as a competitive edge amid the rise of fledgling fintechs
"Everything is expected to be on their phones and on their apps," she said, referring to younger bank customers, "and actually that is the way we need to go." According to the U.K. consultancy Caci, mobile banking is set to become more popular than visiting bank branches by 2021. Monzo reported a 33.1 million ($42.1 million) pre-tax loss last year, while Revolut racked up a 15.1 million loss in 2017. But it's also an independent bank, and Nicholls says it will be able to operate at "zero marginal cost." While banks are touting their moves into digital as a sign of progress, some in the fintech industry think they aren't moving fast enough.cnbc.com
