Canadian Pacific Holiday Train will run in 2022, but once again won’t stop in Michigan
For the first time since 2019 the Canadian Pacific Holiday Train will roll through Michigan after taking two years off due to the COVID-19 pandemic, however those hoping to see the train will only have a brief window to catch a glimpse. While the train is resuming the cross-continent tour that starts in Maine and ends in Saskatchewan, Canada there are no scheduled stops in Michigan. Regardless, viewers pack parking lots and open fields near the train tracks to catch a glimpse of the brightly-lit 14-car train. It’s worth noting that in the past officials with Canadian Pacific have warned the lights could be turned off as it travels due to safety reasons. “The Holiday Train is all about families and communities coming together to celebrate the season and help those in need.

The popular Canadian Pacific Holiday Train will remain parked in 2020, meaning the colorful Christmas spectacle won’t be seen across its usual route in the northern United States and across Canada due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Canadian Pacific will instead donate to food banks in communities along its network and host a virtual concert in lieu of its regular Holiday Train program. "It is our honor to continue to donate to communities across our network this year, even if the train itself will not run. “The spirit of the Holiday Train program and the Christmas spirit will carry on this year through our virtual concert. In its first 21 years, the train has raised $17.8 million and collected 4.8 million pounds of food for local food banks in communities along CP’s network.
