They carried that momentum to Omaha, Nebraska, where they knocked off the top four seeds en route to a league championship and an automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament. Michigan baseball outlasts Illinois in Big Ten tourney opener
A hot start for Michigan’s baseball team late Thursday night helped lead to a pivotal victory early Friday morning in its Big Ten Tournament opener against Illinois. 4-seeded Fighting Illini battled back to tie the game on two separate occasions, Michigan took the lead for good in the eighth inning and prevailed for a 7-5 win. The team needed it as Illinois threatened in the bottom of the inning. The conference tournament was scheduled to begin Wednesday, but all four opening games were moved to Thursday because of inclement weather. GoFundMe set up for family of 1-year-old boy killed in I-94 crash
ST. CLAIR SHORES, Mich. – A donation account has been set up to help the family of a 1-year-old boy who was killed Tuesday morning when someone struck his mother’s car on eastbound I-94 in Macomb County. Police said the preliminary investigation showed a van was traveling in the left center lane on eastbound I-94 at Martin Road about 6 a.m. when it changed into the left lane and rear-ended the car. She stopped the car on the interstate and was waiting for help when the van hit the car. The family says the boy’s mother suffered serious injuries and will have a long road to recovery.
