Now heading into his second season as Michigan State’s head coach, he is facing a rebuilding project in the secondary, especially at cornerback. Shakur Brown, the Spartans’ top cornerback last season, left early for the NFL while four others at the position transferred. That’s where Brown started the first two games of the season before returning to cornerback for the final five games. Michigan State’s secondary will look at lot different than last season, especially at cornerback where the room was retooled through the portal.

The defendants named in the new filing are Southern Coal Corporation, Premium Coal Company Inc., and Justice Coal of Alabama. A lead attorney for the companies and the governor's office did not immediately respond to emails seeking comment.

Jackson, whose authors range from Ta-Nehisi Coates to Bryan Stevenson, was given the Medal for Editorial Excellence Award. Jackson runs the One World imprint of Penguin Random House. The Center for Fiction awarded its First Novel Prize to Raven Leilani for “Luster,” the story of a young Black woman's affair with a married, middle-aged white man.
