Mix 106.3 FM switching to rock, alternative station The Core
The Core (106.3 FM), formerly known as Mix, will be moving away from its adult contemporary playlists and into one packed full of rock and alternative tunes many grew up with in the 90′s and early 2000′s. Along with the genre and talk show changes, 106.3 has added market-veteran MacKenzie “MacK” Furlo to The Core team. Pierce said that he’s glad to have been a part of Mix and is grateful to be a part of the transition to The Core and its new selections. “Our listeners and advertisers now have a rock ‘alternative’ run by people in the mitten for people in the mitten,” said Pierce. At about the same time Saturday, Spring Lake’s boys basketball coach felt a lot of satisfaction. Junior Kaden George, four days after getting poked in the eye during a district-opening win over Fruitport, scored a career 33 points to power Spring Lake. Spring Lake (7-10), despite finishing seventh in the eight-team OK Blue Conference, advances to Tuesday’s 7 p.m. regional semifinal at Grand Rapids South Christian against Coopersville (14-5). While Spring Lake’s record might not impress, Core said his team’s schedule prepared the Lakers well for district play. Core said that had Spring Lake played Orchard View Thursday, that George probably would not have played because of the eye injury.
