Detroit police captain explains delay in notifying family of hit-and-run victim
DETROIT โ Detroit Police are shedding some light on why a family was never contacted when a man was killed during a hit-and run incident in December. We know Christmas Eve may not have been a good time, but it would have been better than to wait eight days,โ said Patricia Rutland. Rutlandโs son, Dion Emory, was killed in a hit-and run on Christmas Eve at the intersection of Schoolcraft and Greenfield roads. Detroit police Captain Derrick Maye said that should have never happened. The search also continues for the driver who struck and killed Emory.
Family of man killed in Detroit hit-and-run find out on social media a week after
Eight days have passed since Dion Emery was killed in a hit-and-run on Christmas Eve near the intersection of Schoolcraft and Greenfield roads. โHe died by himself, He died by himself,โ cried Dionโs mother, Patricia Rutland. His mother, and other family members, are all questioning why someone would hit Dion and keep on driving, on Christmas Eve of all days. If it wasnโt for a post made to a group on social media, the family would have never found out. More: Detroit crime news
