MISSAUKEE COUNTY, Mich. – Michigan State Police released the identities of the people who were killed in a shooting in northern Michigan Friday.
The shooting happened on Friday, Aug. 14, in Missaukee County, which is about 50 miles southeast of Traverse City.

A 13-year-old who had been shot four times called 911 on Aug. 14 from a home in Missaukee County. When police arrived at the home, they found the teen as well as three people dead.
The three people found dead in the home were identified as Shane McGowan, 45; Amanda Everitt, 40; and Eric Everitt, 16. The 13-year-old girl who was found injured in the home remains hospitalized.
Police began searching for the suspected shooter. In the process, they found another person dead in a separate home in Missaukee County. Michigan State Police later identified him as John Schwartz, 53.
After a further search, police later found a woman dead alongside the suspected shooter, who also was found dead, in a wooded area near Whitlock Lake in Caldwell Township. Police identified the woman as Heather Schwartz, 29.
Police have not yet released information on a possible motive in the mass shooting.
