Inmate found dead in cell at Michigan prison Homicide suspected, Department of Corrections said
IONIA, Mich. – An inmate was found dead in his cell at the Bellamy Creek Correctional Facility in Ionia Wednesday night.
Kevin Joseph Kelly, 36, was found dead in his two-person cell in the evening hours of Aug. 19.
The Michigan Department of Corrections said his death is under investigation as a suspected homicide.
According to the Department of Corrections’ website, Kelly has been in prison since September 2025.
No further details were provided.
