I have more things to say about Mortiz Seider, the future of the Red Wings, and a lot more as we prepare to welcome back pro hockey to our TVs. I would have appreciated St. Louis in the Central with the Red Wings, and perhaps that could still happen? Red Wings trade Dmytro Timashov’s rights to Islanders
Unable to reach a contract agreement with restricted free-agent Dmytro Timashov, the Detroit Red Wings traded the 24-year-old forward’s rights to the New York Islanders Friday for future considerations. The Red Wings claimed Timashov off waivers from the Toronto Maple Leafs late last season. He had no points in five games for Detroit but made an impression with his physical play despite his modest size (5-10, 192). Timashov had four goals and five assists in 39 games with the Leafs during his rookie season, prior to being waived. The Red Wings have a fairly crowded roster, though there has been talk of possibly expanding rosters during this pandemic-shortened season, especially if the AHL does not restart.

The Detroit Red Wings took care of their last important piece of business in the offseason Tuesday, signing Anthony Mantha to a four-year contract worth $5.7 million per season. Mantha, a 6-5, 234-pound winger with scoring ability, is a key part of the team’s rebuild. He tallied 16 goals and 38 points in 43 games in 2019-20 during an injury-shortened season. Mantha was a restricted free agent in final year of a two-year deal with a cap hit of $3.3 million. The Red Wings have roughly $9.5 million in cap space, according to capfriendly.com.
