Netflix once again dominates Golden Globe TV nominations

The streaming giant scooped up 20 small-screen nods โ nearly three times as many as its closest competitor, HBO, and beating the 17 TV nominations it got last year. Streaming newcomer HBO Max scored two nominations with โThe Flight Attendant,โ a best comedy TV berth and also earned โThe Big Bang Theoryโ veteran Kaley Cuoco her first Globe nod. Little-known Pop TV earned five nominations โ all for the Canadian comedy โSchittโs Creek,โ which swept the comedy Emmy Awards last year. AdโThe Greatโ now faces โThe Flight Attendant,โ โSchittโs Creek,โ โEmily in Parisโ and โTed Lassoโ for bragging rights to best comedy TV series.
Detroit is โvery coolโ: Actor Jon Hamm implores people to visit city after filming new movie
Enter: No Sudden Move, a feature film set in Detroit in the 1950s that has brought a star-studded cast to Metro Detroit for filming this fall. Beginning in September, stars like Jon Hamm, Don Cheadle and Benicio del Toro began production in Downtown Detroit and surrounding neighborhoods. โWe all stayed in a hotel in Downtown Detroit...and, by the way, Detroit: If you get the chance, go visit. โBut also strange making a movie where everybody has to be in masks until three seconds before they start rolling the cameras. The movie is slated to release on HBO Max, but no official release date has been set at this time.

There is a new feature film being made here in Detroit! No one is more excited than Kila Peeples, who is on a mission to see some of the stars of this movie. She explained some of the highlights about the movie, and how some local businesses are helping to welcome the cast and crew to the D. The film is called No Sudden Move, it stars Don Cheadle, Jon Hamm, David Harbour of Stranger Things fame, and many more famous actors. Kila spoke to Megan Lewis from DeVries & Company in Eastern Market and Tara Grey, owner of Gus and Grey Handcrafted Delights, who are creating baskets of artisans foods to welcome the stars. Pope in TED talk: Earth cannot be squeezed 'like an orangeโ
VATICAN CITY โ Pope Francis on Saturday issued an urgent call to action to defend the planet and help the poor in his second TED talk. The pontiff, known for his affinity for social media and technology, said in a videotaped message to a TED conference on climate change that the coronavirus pandemic had put a focus on the social-environmental challenge facing the globe. He called on investors to exclude companies that do not taking into account the environment, as have many faith-based organizations already have. โIn fact, the earth must be taken care of, cultivated and protected; we cannot continue to squeeze it like an orange. And we can say this, taking care of the Earth is a human right,โ Francis said.
Filming begins in Detroit for major motion picture โNo Sudden Move'
DETROIT โ A whole bunch of trucks, cables and tents popped up in Rosedale Park on Tuesday, but it wasnโt a construction crew. For the first time in years, a major motion picture is being shot in Detroit. It centers around a group of small-time criminals who are hired to steal what they think is a simple document. There were lots of trucks, tents and people. The film is directed by Steven Soderbergh, who also directed โOut of Sightโ in Detroit in 1998.

That's fueling an urgent effort by Biden, Harris and their allies to shore up older voters, suburbanites and African Americans to make up for potential shortcomings elsewhere. If Biden reclaims the upper Midwest for Democrats, he wonโt need Florida to capture the presidency. Hispanic voters in Florida tend to be somewhat more Republican-leaning than Hispanic voters nationwide because of the stateโs Cuban American population. The four-time Grammy winner isn't the only Biden playlist mainstay helping his campaign against President Donald Trump. Still, Biden has gone beyond celebrities in search of campaign surrogates. Stars generate candidate buzz, help with fundraising and can build campaign event crowds even for those online. His reelection campaign has been holding its own online events with top supporters nearly every night for months and says its online events average 2.6 million views per broadcast, though its headliners are often the presidents children. The Trump campaign has also seized on Biden's preferred venue for participating in online events, a basement studio in his Delaware home accusing the former vice president of hiding from voters.
