A 1940 self-portrait by Frida Kahlo has sold for $54.7 million and made auction history at Sotheby’s in New York.

Frida Kahlo’s painting “El sueño (La cama)” is expected to fetch between $40 million and $60 million at auction, potentially making it the most expensive work by a female or Latin American artist.
