Aldermen used a parliamentary maneuver Wednesday to temporarily block a vote on a plan to rename Lake Shore Drive for the Black explorer credited with founding Chicago. After two aldermen called Wednesday for the measure to be deferred, the vote on whether to rename the outer Drive from Hollywood Avenue to 67th Street in honor of Jean Baptist Point DuSable was sent to the next City Council meeting. The move drew anger from the sponsor of the plan who said there were “racial overtones” in the delay tactic.

The Grand Rapids Drive will have a new NBA affiliate during the 2021-22 season. The G League team and the Denver Nuggets announced that the two sides agreed to a single affiliation “hybrid” partnership on Tuesday. Following the Pistons’ move, the Drive vowed to keep the team in Grand Rapids. As part of the hybrid partnership, the Nuggets will control the Drive’s basketball operations and existing local ownership in Grand Rapids. Only Phoenix Suns and Portland Trail Blazers remain as the two NBA teams without a G League affiliate.

Now, the Masters Tournament has been postponed, the chairman of the Augusta National Golf Club announced on Friday. "Considering the latest information and expert analysis, we have decided at this time to postpone the Masters Tournament, the Augusta National Women's Amateur and the Drive, Chip and Putt National Finals," Fred Ridley said in a statement. "Unfortunately, the ever-increasing risks associated with the widespread Coronavirus COVID-19 have led us to a decision that undoubtedly will be disappointing to many, although I am confident is appropriate under these unique circumstances," he said. Officials also announced on Friday that the Boston Marathon has been postponed, moved from April 20 to September 14.
