FAMILY VACCINATION DAY

FLINT, MI -- Free COVID-19 and flu vaccines will be available at a “Family Vaccination Day” event in Flint this weekend. Hamilton Community Health Network will be hosting the event from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 22. Pediatrician Shaheen Sheikh of the Hamilton Community Health Network said getting your children vaccinated can help them feel a sense of control. “Many children are anxious about coming down with COVID or their parents developing it,” Sheikh said in a news release from Hamilton. To date, there have been more than 84,000 cases and 1,429 people in Genesee County have died.

The city partnered with the Pistons in the hopes of boosting vaccination rates. Detroit is lagging behind other cities with only about 30% vaccinated.

The city of Detroit is teaming up with the Detroit Pistons for a special COVID-19 vaccination event this weekend.

The event will be held at the Henry Ford Pistons Performance Center. Vaccine appointments can be made by calling 313-230-0505.
