Jim Irsay: Andrew Luck or not, the Colts are in need of a ‘veteran’ QB

Luck abruptly retired following the 2019 season, but still is revered throughout the organization. If the 31-year-old wanted to make an NFL return, Irsay said the door is open. The offensive line is vastly improved since Luck retired two years ago, so maybe there’s some temptation. “He knows how much we’d love to have him be our quarterback, there’s just no question about that,” Irsay said. But if not Luck, expect the Colts to be among the many teams interested in Lions QB Matthew Stafford.

So, of course, the Indianapolis Colts coach finds himself rooting for the Bills almost every week — just like his former teammates root for him. No, it's not the first time he's been back — not even the first time as the Colts coach. But when Josh McDaniels backed out of his deal to join the Colts, Reich was perfectly positioned to return to another of his favorite cities, Indianapolis. So as Reich goes back to Buffalo, he's doing his best to focus on the task at hand — breaking the hearts of his former team and teammates in a city he adores.

(AP) – The Indianapolis Colts defense missed linebacker Darius Leonard on Sunday. And while they hung 32 points on the league’s top scoring defense, nine came courtesy of the Browns defense. A week earlier, with Leonard missing the second half at Chicago because of a groin injury, the Colts still played well.

Unmasked: NFL fines coaches, teams for not covering faces

(AP Photo/Don Wright)NFL coaches thumbed their collective — and exposed — noses at the NFL’s mask mandate in Week 2. More coaches and clubs can expect similar punishments as the memo last week from Troy Vincent, who oversees the league’s football operations, was largely ignored throughout the weekend.
