James' turnovers, Davis' fouls doom Lakers in Game 3 loss
James was whistled for traveling, ending a possession that could have given the Los Angeles Lakers a fourth-quarter lead. In the time of the game when he usually turns it up, James turned it over Sunday night, part of a sloppy performance by the Lakers in a 115-104 loss to the Miami Heat in Game 3 of the NBA Finals. Los Angeles committed 20 turnovers that led to 21 Miami points, with James committing a game-high eight of them. It was considered Kobe Day because Monday was 8/24, the two numbers Kobe Bryant wore during his 20-year career. We want to have this be a day to celebrate his life and carry that type of emotion into the game, Lakers coach Frank Vogel said before the game. The Lakers will arrive at Disney World with a magic number of three in the race for the No. Like we always would if this were the regular season or if these were the last eight games of the regular season, we would compete to win, Lakers coach Frank Vogel said. Typically, once James team is locked into a playoff seed, he shuts it down and begins preparing for the postseason.
Asterisk on the NBA title? Coaches, players say not a chance
To the teams in the NBA, this championship might be the toughest one ever claimed. And only one of the 22 teams headed to Disney will be able to say it was absolutely worth the trouble. You win an NBA championship anytime, its a hell of an accomplishment. This NBA season will see the 22 remaining teams all play between 71 and 75 games before the playoffs, and the leagues plan is for a full four-round, best-of-seven-throughout postseason. If you think about the mental toughness its going to take ... its going to come down to talent.
