James Craig leads Republican gubernatorial field in fundraising
Republican candidate for governor James Craig turned in his first campaign finance report on Monday, reporting $1.4 million raised and outpacing his fellow Republicans but not incumbent Gov. In this reporting period, which ran from July 21 to Oct. 20, 2021, Craig raised $1.4 million and spent $458,828, leaving him with $966,873 in cash on hand. Craig’s fundraising came from some familiar names, including former Republican governors John Engler and Rick Snyder, who gave the maximum of $7,150 each. He’s spent $7,694 on things like lodging and social media advertising and is left with $6,754 in cash on hand. He spent $60,620 this period on things like consulting, marketing and shirts and is left with $6,945 in cash on hand.
