Former Saginaw Valley State, Minnesota coach Jerry Kill takes over at TCU
Former Saginaw Valley State University and Minnesota coach Jerry Kill is back on the sidelines, this time as a replacement for one of his best friends. Texas Christian, which has lost three consecutive games, announced that Gary Patterson would leave as head coach in his 21st season as the TCU coach. Kill and Patterson played for and coached under former TCU head coach Dennis Franchionne. Kill, 60, began his head coaching career at Saginaw Valley State, where he led the Cardinals from 1994 through 1998, putting together a 38-14 record. Kill followed with coaching stops at Emporia State, Southern Illinois and Northern Illinois before taking over as the Minnesota head coach.mlive.com
Duggan, TCU blow out Duquesne 45-3 as teams shorten 2nd half
Max Duggan threw for a touchdown and was one of four TCU players with a rushing score as the Horned Frogs routed lower-division Duquesne 45-3 in an opener shortened in the second half Saturday night. The coaches agreed to play 12-minute quarters after halftime with the Horned Frogs leading 35-0 in their first meeting with the FCS school. Coastal Carolina's Jamey Chadwell is AP coach of the year

Lone Star Sadness: Horns, Aggies form Axis of Underachievers
At the top of USA Today's most recent revenue rankings for college athletic departments are Texas and Texas A&M. Texas and Texas A&M have everything needed to put out a national championship-level football program. The Aggies and Longhorns refuse to play each other but combine to form an Axis of Underachievers in the Lone Star State. In three games against Alabama under Fisher, the Aggies are 0-3 by a combined 144-75. For now, though, Texas and Texas A&M continue to prove the adage that money can't buy happiness.
