Scenic M-22 goes right between two of the clearest lakes in Michigan
GLEN ARBOR, MI-- Two of the clearest and cleanest lakes in all of Michigan can be found while driving along M-22. Big and Little Glen Lakes sit just outside the borders of Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. Unlike most Michigan lakes, Glen Lake is fed by clear groundwater, not runoff. Over thousands of years, a sandbar developed, separating Glen Lake from Lake Michigan. The lakes can be seen from the Dune Climb at Sleeping Bear Dunes and from the Pierce Stocking Scenic Drive.

mlive.comNo. 1 Ypsilanti Arbor Prep eyes second-ever girls basketball state title after semifinal win over Glen Lake
EAST LANSING – Jazmin Chupp was devastated as a freshman when her team came up one game short of playing for a state championship, falling in the state semifinals. The Ypsilanti Arbor Prep girls basketball senior, along with her fellow senior teammates Karianna Woods and Mya Petticord, made a promise that they would do what they could to redeem themselves. Arbor Prep carried a 26-21 lead into halftime but turned up the defensive intensity in the third quarter, holding Glen Lake to just seven points and did enough to hold on for the victory. The Lakers will graduate five seniors from this year’s 25-1 team and despite the loss, Glen Lake coach Jason Bradford was proud of the effort his team put forth. “I’m not playing in college, so for me to win a state championship, it would make me so happy,” Chupp said.

mlive.comAnn Arbor, Ypsilanti parents excited to have kids back to school in-person
ANN ARBOR, MI - Norman and Sarah Roe were ecstatic to send their son, Lincoln, back to Bryant Elementary School on Monday, after being away for more than a year. Because Ann Arbor Public Schools didn’t offer in-person learning until the spring last school year, the Roes enrolled their son in Glen Lake, where they own another home because they thought having the in-person school option was essential. “Learning is important, but I think for their age, the interaction is also very important between kids and their friends,” Sarah Roe said. Speyer said he is hopeful the district can maintain in-person operations and provide children with consistent face-to-face learning this year. “I’m not worried about kids’ safety at all and I’m not very worried about our safety at all,” he said.
