Chris Cuomo seeking $125M from CNN after firing
By DAVID BAUDER, AP Media WriterNEW YORK (AP) — Chris Cuomo wants an arbitrator to award him $125 million for his firing from CNN, alleging his bosses knew full well how he advised his brother, former New York Gov. His filing seeking arbitration on Wednesday exposed more ugliness at the network, where Cuomo, CNN chief Jeff Zucker and his top deputy, Allison Gollust, have all been ousted in the past three months. “It should be obvious by now that Chris Cuomo did not lie to CNN about helping his brother,” said his lawyer, Bryan Freedman. During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, Chris Cuomo interviewed his big brother on CNN nine times — a temporary lift of the network’s policy that Chris Cuomo not participate in stories concerning the governor. In his filing Wednesday, Chris Cuomo said CNN leadership demanded the interviews even though he and his brother had expressed reservations about them.

MediaRadar, an advertising data firm, estimates the 2019 NCAA March Madness tournament generated $1.18 billion in television ad spend for CBS and Turner Sports. The Los Angeles Times is further along in its search for a successor to Executive Editor Norman Pearlstine. The Washington Post named Krissah Thompson the newspaper's first managing editor for diversity and inclusion. Woodward says CNN reporter urged him to release Trump tapes
NEW YORK – Bob Woodward says he hadn't planned on releasing audio tapes of his interviews with President Donald Trump for his book “Rage” until CNN reporter Jamie Gangel and the author's wife convinced him. “The microphone really is a microscope.”Gangel worked in tandem with Elsa Walsh, herself an accomplished reporter who helps edit her husband's books, to encourage release of the tapes. For a CNN reporter to help push a news source toward a decision that amplifies the impact of a book that is highly critical of Trump may open Gangel to some criticism. But it's an important role for journalists to advocate for public release of as much information as possible, said Kathleen Culver, director of the Center for Journalism Ethics at the University of Wisconsin. CNN chief Jeff Zucker, who was interviewing Woodward at the conference, also said that “we're all better” for Gangel pressing the point.
Costas joins CNN to talk on intersection of news and sports
NEW YORK Time to cut a conversation with Bob Costas short. The new boss CNN chief Jeff Zucker is calling on the other line. Costas, who ended his 40-year hitch at NBC Sports more than a year ago, this week signed on as a CNN contributor to offer commentary on the intersection of news and sports. My relationship with Jeff makes me comfortable with the whole arrangement, Costas said. But Costas has the hardest time justifying college football, a sport with constant contact, resuming when student attendance in general will be restricted at many schools.
Hot news cycle leads CNN to best ratings in 40 years
The others in this space are political talk channels, and so even when they're talking about these stories, they're talking about the politics of the stories. CNN has its share of political talk, especially on its increasingly opinionated prime-time lineup of Anderson Cooper, Chris Cuomo and Don Lemon. During the breaking stories, CNN responded by assigning more of its top people, like Wolf Blitzer, to weekend work. It has simulcast the CNN International network overnight in the U.S., Zucker said. The ratings of the past three months proved those viewers still return to CNN when there is important news, he said.
Turner Sports Exec Jeff Zucker: NCAA Tournament Can Be An Outlet Of Emotional, Psychological Relief For Country
The Ivy League just announced the cancellation of their mens and womens basketball tournaments out of an abundance of caution. That makes for a tough spot for broadcast partners CBS Sports and Turner Sports as the networks prepare for the 10th year of their partnership broadcasting the tournament. I think this tournament comes at an important time in the country, said Zucker. With all of that in mind, there are some new features set for this years broadcast production of the tournament. Adam Lefkoe of Turner Sports will provide all of the in-game updates throughout the tournament.

Jeff Zucker's meteoric rise in the media industry may not be over yet. Both Zucker and a WarnerMedia spokesperson did not immediately respond to a request for comment. After the AT&T acquisition, Zucker was named head of news and sports for WarnerMedia.
