mlive.comEminem’s potential Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction in 2022 would be a polarizing game-changer
Rock purists will have just finished arguing “hip hop isn’t rock and roll” during Jay-Z’s induction on Oct. 30 when they’ll face another annoyance. Eminem becomes eligible for the Rock Hall next year and is sure to make the ballot in early 2022. “Just like any artist must evolve in their career, so should the Hall of Fame,” John Sykes, chairman of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation, told Billboard in May. Should Marshall Mathers be inducted next year, it would mark a turning point for the Rock Hall that goes beyond hip hop. Under the leadership of Sykes, the face of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is changing.

Nine people, including a 16-year-old boy, have been confirmed dead since lightning-caused fires that started weeks ago fused into a monster that largely destroyed Berry Creek, a tiny hamlet in the Sierra Nevada foothills northeast of San Francisco. Nearly 15,000 firefighters were battling 28 major wildfires across California, although 24 were sparked Thursday and quickly contained. The sheriff said the victims included Josiah Williams, 16, of Berry Creek, who apparently died while trying to flee the flames in a vehicle. In Berry Creek, most homes were reduced to smoldering piles of ash, twisted metal and blackened appliances, although some were unscathed. Kate Brown said Friday “dozens of people” are missing from the large wildfires that have burned across the state.
