Instant observations: Failed fourth-down try dooms another Detroit Lions’ comeback bid in Chicago
But when he took the podium last Sunday, just minutes after the Detroit Lions were beaten in extraordinary fashion, the quarterback clearly had something to say. Rookie quarterback Justin Fields completed just six passes in that game, took nine sacks and net just 1 yard passing in his first NFL start. It was a big one too, separating Justin Fields from the football late in the fourth quarter. A couple plays later, Harris took another bad path to the football and was beaten by Fields for a third-down pickup on the ground. Then they got together again for another score in the fourth quarter, a 25-yard rip up the right seam.mlive.com
Halftime analysis: Once again, Detroit Lions killing themselves against lowly Bears
CHICAGO -- The Detroit Lions flew across Lake Michigan looking to break the second-longest losing streak in the NFL. Instead, they’re continuing to show why they’re winless while falling behind 14-0 on Sunday against the struggling Bears at Soldier Field. The Lions allowed touchdowns on their first two defensive series, sandwiched by one of the ugliest turnovers you’ll ever see. It all happened inside the Bears’ 10-yard line. For those scoring at home, that’s three trips inside the 10-yard line in a single half, and zero points to show for it.mlive.com

Fields net just 1 passing yard all day in a brutal 26-6 loss to Cleveland in his first NFL start. Chase has been described as the potential “home run” scenario for the Lions at Pick 7, for what it’s worth. “Trey Flowers hasn’t lived up to his free-agent price tag, and the Lions’ pass rush as a whole has disappointed the last two seasons,” Kiper writes.mlive.com
