DETROIT – It was a night of firsts for the Detroit Red Wings Thursday at Little Caesars Arena. Jakub Vrana, in his Red Wings debut, scored his first goal with his new team. The Red Wings scored three unanswered goals in the second period to take a 3-1 lead. Vrana scored on a breakaway at 8:55 to give the Red Wings a lead they would not relinquish. He and Richard Panik, who also made his Red Wings debut, were acquired from Washington on Monday in the deal that sent Anthony Mantha to the Capitals.

The Detroit Red Wings have seen plenty Kevin Lankinen this season, and they still haven’t solved him. His shot deflected off the stick of Christian Djoos, hit Biega in the side of the face and then went off Greiss’ stick and into the net.
