LAPEER COUNTY, MI -- Roadwork will close eastbound I-69 Wednesday from Lake Pleasant Road to Capac Road in Lapeer County. Crews are expected to begin the closure at 3 a.m. Wednesday, May 19, and reopen the section of eastbound I-69 by noon, according to a Michigan Department of Transportation news release. Drivers are asked to follow a posted detour using Lake Pleasant Road, Newark Road, M-53, Imlay City Road and Capac Road, per the release. The roadwork will address emergency pavement repairs on the median crossover used to maintain traffic while work is ongoing. Gretchen Whitmer’s Rebuilding Michigan program to rebuild the state highways and bridges that are critical to the state’s economy and carry the most traffic, the release states.

The crash happened at 4:20 p.m. Wednesday on Bowers Road west of Lake Pleasant Road in Attica Township, according to authorities. A bus dropping off Imlay City Elementary School students was stopped facing east on Bowers Road, police said. A 2002 Ford F-150 heading east on Bowers Road crashed into the back of the bus without braking, officials said. Police searching for men who tried to rob Dick Coulter equipment store in Lapeer County
LAPEER COUNTY, Mich. - Police are investigating an attempted robbery that happened June 26 at the Dick Coulter equipment store on Lake Pleasant Road. The first attempted robber is described as a 6-foot-tall white man weighing 200 pounds. He was wearing an orange shirt, gray ski mask and gray sweat pants. The second attempted robber is described as 6 feet tall and weighing 170 pounds. He was wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt with yellow lettering on the back, blue jeans and had a yellow shirt to cover his head.
