Bogdanovic, Knox lead Pistons past Jazz for back-to-back wins
SALT LAKE CITY — Bojan Bogdanovic scored 23 points and Kevin Knox II had a season-high 21 points, including a career-best six 3-pointers, to boost the Detroit Pistons to their second straight road win, 125-116 over the Utah Jazz on Wednesday night. Marvin Bagley III scored a season-high 19 points on 9-of-10 shooting and Alec Burks added 18 points. Despite playing back-to-back, the Pistons were quicker to the loose balls and seemed to grab all the 50-50 rebounds. Bogdanovic spent three years with the Jazz before he was traded in the deal that brought Kelly Olynyk to Utah. After the Jazz got within 113-110 with 3:49 to play, Bogdanovic found Burks for a 3-pointer and added two free throws while the Pistons held Utah scoreless for 3:22.

The league announced Thursday the punishment, which will begin with Minnesota's game Saturday at Washington. Beasley, in his fifth NBA season, is averaging a career-best 20.5 points. As part of Beasley’s plea deal, prosecutors dropped a felony fifth-degree drug possession charge.

COVID-19 precautions could require the county to release him on electronic home monitoring for the duration of the sentence. Beasley approached their vehicle and pointed a rifle as he told them to leave. I humbly apologize for my actions.”As part of the conditions of the sentencing, Beasley was given three years of probation with no use of alcohol or drugs and completion of an anger management program.
Detroit Pistons start strong, fall short in season opener against Minnesota Timberwolves
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Malik Beasley scored 23 points and Karl-Anthony Towns had 22 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists, leading the Minnesota Timberwolves’ rally to beat the Detroit Pistons 111-101 on Wednesday night in the season opener. Josh Jackson (19 points) and Derrick Rose (15 points) provided plenty of production off the bench, but the Pistons sputtered down the stretch as the Timberwolves cranked up their defense and were outscored 31-16 in the fourth quarter. Towns, who made Minnesota’s first basket after an 0-for-7 start, gave the Timberwolves their first lead at 98-97 on a 3-pointer with 3:38 remaining. Blake Griffin, the six-time All-Star, had 15 points and seven rebounds after his 2019-20 season was limited to 18 games by an injury to the left knee that has hampered him throughout his career.
