Michigan COVID-19 hospitalizations among younger adults hitting same levels as previous peak
Michigan’s daily hospital admissions among younger adults with COVID-19 are now at or exceeding the levels seen in early December when coronavirus hospitalizations peaked in the state, says the Michigan Health and Hospital Association. It’s just as bad, if not worse than what we saw in the fall surge. At the peak of the fall surge, an average of 129 people age 80 and older were being admitted to the hospital. MHA officials said they have not heard reports of COVID-19 hospitalizations in Michigan among those who are partially or fully vaccinated. As of Thursday, 1,858 people were hospitalized in Michigan for COVID-19, including 379 in intensive care units.
