Potential for bacteria triggers boil water advisory in Mt. Morris area
Morris and some areas surrounding the city are being told to boil their water before drinking it after a city of Flint valve failure caused two water main breaks on Clio Road. The Genesee County Drain Commissioner’s Office issued the advisory on Wednesday, Aug. 31, saying the valve failure caused a pressure surge in the county water system, resulting in the breaks and the potential for bacterial contamination. “However, as a precautionary measure, the city of Mount Morris is being placed under a boil water order. Drinking water and water used to make ice, for brushing teeth, washing dishes, and food preparation should be boiled for 1 minute before it’s used. “We will inform you when tests show no bacteria and you no longer need to boil your water,” the drain office announcement says.mlive.com
