KENT COUNTY, MI – A former Kent County investment advisor was ordered to stand trial on allegations he took $260,000 from clients. Jaime Westenbarger, 45, of Nashville, Tennessee, had his case bound over for trial in Kent County Circuit Court after a hearing Tuesday, Dec. 20, in 63rd District Court. Westenbarger was working as the resident agent and investment advisor for Forest Hills Financial Inc.“People put their trust in professionals when seeking to invest their hard-earned money,” state Attorney General Dana Nessel said in a statement. The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission said last year that Westenbarger consented to a cease-and-desist order by state authorities that prohibited him from conducting any business regulated by the Michigan Securities Act. The SEC said Michigan officials determined that Westenbarger offered two investors a “corporate note” for $200,000, and a short-term $60,000 certificate of deposit to another investor.
