EV start-up Rivian raises $2.65 billion in new funding round led by T. Rowe Price
Rivian, the electric vehicle start-up backed by Amazon and Ford Motor, on Tuesday said it closed on a $2.65 billion investment round led by T. Rowe Price funds as the company moves closer to production of an all-electric pickup and SUV. The company has raised about $8 billion since 2019. Rivian closed on a $2.5 billion investment round last year, also led by T. Rowe Price; a $1.3 billion funding round in December 2019; and had raised at least $1.5 billion before that. Other participants in the round included Fidelity, Amazon's Climate Pledge Fund, Coatue and D1 Capital Partners as well as several other existing and new investors, according to the company.cnbc.com

Ford confirms US-built electric cargo van under its $11.5 billion plan

Amazon partners with Lamborghini, Rivian to offer Alexa voice assistant in vehicles
Amazon is adding exotic Italian automaker Lamborghini and Michigan-based electric vehicle startup Rivian to its growing list of partners that will integrate its Alexa voice-enabled assistant into upcoming vehicles. Amazon on Monday said Lamborghini will include Alexa in its $200,000-plus Huracan Evo and Rivian will integrate Alexa into its first two all-electric vehicles, the R1S SUV and R1T pickup, beginning later this year. Rivian also will include Alexa in its previously-announced fleet of 100,000 all-electric Amazon delivery vans, which are expected to begin production in 2021. The new Alexa-enabled vehicles were announced in conjunction with the CES technology conference that's occurring this week in Las Vegas. PLYMOUTH TOWNSHIP, Mich. - Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezos announced Thursday the company placed an order for 100,000 electric delivery vans from Plymouth-based automotive technology company Rivian. Rivian has two electric vehicles scheduled for release in 2021, a pickup truck, the R1T, and an SUV, the R1S. The electric delivery van is a new, previously unannounced, vehicle for the company. It is the largest order of electric delivery vehicles.
