Aidan Hutchinson visits Jaguars; still projected to go No. 1 in NFL draft

Three weeks before the NFL draft gets underway, Aidan Hutchinson is still the best bet to go No. On Tuesday, ESPN draft analyst Todd McShay unveiled his latest mock draft and, sure enough, there was Hutchinson going first. “Hutchinson would instantly provide the Jaguars with a relentless, explosive disrupter on the edge opposite Josh Allen.”More: Jaguars aim to ‘go big’ in NFL draft. McShay follows fellow ESPN colleague Mel Kiper, who just two weeks ago projected Hutchinson to the Jaguars at No. 34 to the Detroit Lions in McShay’s new mock draft, although “Hill probably belongs in the first round,” he writes.

No bubbles, but NFL playoff training camps likely if Covid-19 cases continue

Cleveland Browns Quarterback Baker Mayfield (6) hands off to Cleveland Browns Running Back Nick Chubb (24) during the game between the Cleveland Browns and the Jacksonville Jaguars on November 29, 2020 at TIAA Bank Field in Jacksonville, Fl. NFL officials have publicly stated the league is against playing in bubble environments, with mental health a primary concern. Under this model, playoff clubs would remain in-market but stay at hotels the entire week leading up to playoff games. The people said keeping clubs in hotels would allow the NFL to better monitor teams while also keeping players and staff near families. One of the individuals pointed to the Aug. 12 through Aug. 20 testing report when the NFL reported no positive cases among players, to support installing the model.

Stafford, Swift, Lions protect big lead, pound Jaguars 34-16

This was a victory the Detroit Lions probably needed more than they would admit. Detroit (2-3) made this one look easy, somewhat surprising considering the Lions had lost six straight in which they led by double digits. SOCIAL INJUSTICEAs they’ve done all season, players from Detroit and Jacksonville remained in their locker rooms for the national anthem. The Lions had 30 players lined up along the goal line for the anthem, with seven of them — including Stafford — taking a knee. UP NEXTThe Lions play next Sunday at Atlanta, which has won four of the last five meetings.
