The U.S. will release prescription flu medication from the strategic national stockpile in response to an unusually early and severe flu season.

As respiratory illnesses continue to surge, some pharmacies are running out of liquid versions of medicine that kids commonly use when sick.

It’s not uncommon for rare medications to have supply chain hiccups leading to a shortage, but we aren’t talking about anything fancy. Some very common over-the-counter medicines are also becoming hard to find.

It should also be relatively easy to scale up manufacturing and get pills out to the people who need them worldwide.
