Disney shifts 'Black Widow' and doubles down on streaming

(Marvel Studios/Disney via AP)NEW YORK โ The Walt Disney Co. on Tuesday overhauled its upcoming film release plans, postponing some of its biggest films and shifting Marvel's โBlack Widow," among other titles, to Disney+ the same time they arrive in theaters. โBlack Widow," once planned to debut in May 2020, had been set to kickoff the summer movie season on May 7. In December when announcing an ambitious array of streaming programming, the company suggested that Disney+ would regularly be home to Pixar, among other brands. Warner Bros. earlier set a release plan for 2021 that, like Disney will with โBlack Widow,โ gives viewers the choice of paying for a movie at home or on the big screen.
Disney donating more than $1 million to Bahamas
Copyright 2019 CNN(CNN) - The Walt Disney Company is donating more than $1 million to the Bahamas in the aftermath of Hurricane Dorian. The donation has been led by the Disney Cruise line, which has several ties to the area. Disney owns a private island in the Bahamas called Castaway Cay, and according to the statement, employs native Bahamians in many of its area attractions and resorts. While parts of Florida have so far avoided the brunt of Hurricane Dorian's full force, the Bahamas has not been so lucky. Meanwhile, Walt Disney World in Orlando has remained open as more coastal and southern parts of Florida have braced for impact.
Russi Taylor, voice of Minnie Mouse, dies at 75

Taylor lent the iconic character her voice for more than three decades, Disney said in a statement, taking part in hundreds of projects that included television, film and theme parks. "Minnie Mouse lost her voice with the passing of Russi Taylor," Bob Iger, The Walt Disney Company's chairman and CEO, said in a statement. "For more than 30 years, Minnie and Russi worked together to entertain millions around the worlda partnership that made Minnie a global icon and Russi a Disney Legend beloved by fans everywhere." Taylor was married to Wayne Allwine, who was the voice of Mickey Mouse until his death in 2009.
