Former UAW treasurer pleads guilty to stealing more than $2M in union funds
DETROIT -- The former treasurer and secretary for UAW Local 412 pleaded guilty to charges of embezzling union funds and money laundering after he stole more than $2 million in union funds. Edmunds is accused of using the money to cars, guns, child-support payments and gambling were just some of the way Edmunds allegedly used the funds. UAW Local 412 represents an estimated 2,600 Detroit-area workers employed by Stellantis, formerly known as Fiat Chrysler. Edmunds is the 17th person to be charged in the ongoing case that is looking into corruption throughout the auto union. Auditors who were looking over UAW finances discovered the alleged misuse of funds by Edmunds and turned that information over prior to Edmunds being charged.
