Ryan throws 3 TDs as Falcons stop comeback, beat Broncos

Matt Ryan took advantage of Denver's thin secondary to throw three touchdown passes and the Falcons turned back Drew Lock's bid for a second consecutive comeback to beat the Broncos 34-27 on Sunday. The Broncos' fourth-quarter comeback attempt gave Ryan and the Falcons a scary reminder of blown leads this season. Lock threw two touchdown passes and ran for a 10-yard score in the final quarter that made it 34-27. Lock answered with a 9-yard scoring pass to Tim Patrick with less than four minutes remaining. We'll get them next time.โ€CATCH THISZaccheaus beat Davontae Harris for a 51-yard touchdown catch in the first quarter.

Matthew Stafford connected with T.J. Hockenson on an 11-yard touchdown pass as time expired and Matt Prater booted a 48-yard extra point to give Detroit an improbable 23-22 victory over Atlanta on Sunday. The Lions (3-3) won their second in a row โ€” their first winning streak since early in the 2019 season. Touchdown, Lions.

Falcons, Lions both eyeing rare feat: a winning streak

ATLANTA โ€“ The Atlanta Falcons actually have a shot at a winning streak. โ€œI stopped looking at the standings about three weeks ago,โ€ Falcons running back Todd Gurley said with a chuckle. 'โ€Coming off a bye week, the Lions (2-3) romped to a 34-16 victory at Jacksonville, finally showing they could hold a double-digit lead. The Lions haven't had a winning streak since Weeks 2 and 3 of the 2019 season. Now, they've got to face Gurley, who seems to be getting up to the speed in the Falcons offense.

Gurley celebrates 26th birthday as Falcons' new lead back

Monday was his first day on the Atlanta Falcons' practice fields, and he was upbeat about adjusting to new teammates, new coaches and his new playbook for the start of training camp. First of all, none of yall told me happy birthday yet, so Im kind of upset with you, Gurley said. Gurley was the 2017 Offensive Player of the Year, and his 58 rushing touchdowns since his 2015 debut lead the league. The Falcons are counting on Gurley to join quarterback Matt Ryan and wide receiver Julio Jones as the leaders of the offense. I feel like theyve been doing a pretty good job with that and today it started good, Gurley said.

NFL facing unending series of questions, uncertain answers

Perhaps the biggest headlines Brady drew recently came when he defied players' union recommendations to cease informal practices with teammates as a coronavirus precaution. (Chris Urso/Tampa Bay Times via AP, File)In seven weeks, the NFL expects to kick off its 101st season with the Super Bowl champion Chiefs hosting Houston. Still set on conducting a somewhat normal training camp, though without any preseason games, and then opening the regular season on time, the NFL pushes onward. We could have a ton of social distance, more than we have with our football team, Chiefs coach Andy Reid says. Perhaps the biggest headlines Brady drew recently came when he defied players' union recommendations to cease informal practices with teammates as a coronavirus precaution.

Cowboys render coin toss mix-up moot, throttle Rams 44-21

(AP Photo/Michael Ainsworth)ARLINGTON, TX โ€“ Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys turned โ€œmuch ado about nothingโ€ over the coin toss into โ€œwin and they're inโ€ next weekend. Coming off two of his better games of the season, Rams quarterback Jared Goff had a rough outing that looked better at the end because of his fourth-quarter numbers with the outcome decided. Those two TDs essentially made the coin toss question moot, but the Twitter storm had long since raged. After the Cowboys won the toss, and Prescott initially made a reference to kicking off before saying the Cowboys would defer. Cowboys: Can clinch a second straight NFC East title and fourth in six seasons with a win over the Eagles.

NFL Week 1: What to watch for in fantasy football

Ronald Martinez/Getty Images(CNN) - After seven months the NFL is finally back, which means it's time to set your fantasy football lineups for Week 1. With the 100th NFL season kicking off with tonight's matchup between the Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears, here are some potential breakout games and situations to watch for this week. Instead, he has fallen to the second round of many fantasy football drafts. Despite leading countless teams to the fantasy playoffs last season, Gurley was a no-show in the NFC Championship game and Super Bowl LIII. Week 1 should give fantasy owners a better picture of how he'll be utilized this season.
